By using MacrAU you agree to these terms. They're pretty straightforward.
MacrAU is a calorie and macro tracking app built for Australia. It gives you a food database, barcode scanner, food logging, and nutritional analysis — all designed around the foods Australians actually eat.
The nutrition info in MacrAU is for general information only. It's not dietary or medical advice. If you have allergies, intolerances, or health conditions, always check with a professional and verify against the actual product label.
Our food database pulls from government sources, open data, and community submissions. We work hard to keep things accurate, but:
MacrAU is currently free during early access. All features are available at no cost while we refine the app.
When early access ends, MacrAU will include a 1-month free trial followed by a $0.99 AUD/month subscription billed through the App Store. We'll give you plenty of notice before any paid plan kicks in.
When subscriptions are introduced, you'll be able to cancel any time in your iPhone settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.
Refunds are handled by Apple through their standard refund process.
When you submit a food to the community database, you're giving us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that nutrition data to make the app better for everyone. All submissions are anonymised.
Don't:
We can remove dodgy submissions and suspend accounts that break these rules.
The MacrAU app, brand, and original content belong to us. The food database is built primarily from nutritional information we researched and curated ourselves, but also includes data from:
The MacrAU food database — including its selection, arrangement, corrections, enrichments, and associated metadata — is our intellectual property as a compiled work, independent of the underlying factual nutrition data. You may not extract, reproduce, or redistribute the database or any substantial portion of it without our written permission.
This does not restrict your rights under the open-data licences listed above (ODbL, CC BY) for data originating from those sources.
We do our best to keep things running, but can't promise 100% uptime. The good news is MacrAU is built offline-first — food logging, search, and barcode scanning all work without internet.
To the extent the law allows, MacrAU is provided "as is" without warranties. We're not liable for damages from using the app or relying on its nutrition data.
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010). If it can't be excluded by law, it's not excluded here.
We might update these terms. If anything significant changes, we'll let you know in the app. Continuing to use MacrAU after a change means you're cool with the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes go to Australian courts.
